Learning the Way of Tea

Korean Tea, Culture & Mindfulness Course (6 Sessions)

Service Description

Hands-on, personal journey to understand the way of tea. Each session consists of three parts: 1. The Entering: Mountain Air & Guided Tastings We begin on the open-air deck (weather permitting). Before we enter the formal silence of the tearoom, we ground ourselves in the present moment. You will engage in guided tastings while absorbing the sights and sounds of the Rocky Mountain landscape. It is a practice of sensory synchronization—matching the warmth of the cup to the crispness of the mountain air. 2. The Core: Principles of Korean Tea Once settled, we move into a guided discussion on the underlying philosophies of Korean tea culture. This isn't a dry history lecture; it’s an exploration of the principles of mindfulness, respect, and harmony that have guided tea masters for centuries. We explore how these ancient values translate into a modern life. 3. The Hands: Tactile Arts & Traditional Skills The final segment is dedicated to "Meditation through Making." You will engage your fine motor skills and focus your mind through rotating workshops on traditional skills, including: - Dasik Molding: Creating traditional patterned tea confections. - Ink Calligraphy: Practicing the flow of breath through the brush. - Korean Craft Arts: Engaging with the tactile beauty of traditional materials. An Intimate Circle: Join a small, dedicated cohort (limited to 2 students) for a shared journey of silence, conversation, and connection. - Duration: 6 Sessions (90 minutes per session) - Location: Gilcheon Teahouse - Cost: $600 for the entire class (private group up to 2 students) - Schedule: Arranged upon mutual agreement to ensure the rhythm fits the lives of the participants.
